YEP Glendale Middle School

The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) of the University of Utah is working with a class of students from middle school through high school to help them succeed and become leaders in their community. As part of this venture, they asked me to come and work with the students to create a mural in which the students define what success means for them in their lives, and what steps they need to take in order to reach their goals.

I worked with two groups of Glendale Middle School students twice a week for eight weeks in order to brainstorm, design and assemble the mosaic. To commemorate the completion of the project we held a mural unveiling at the Art Barn of the Salt Lake City Arts Council where the students presented their project to the public before it was installed near the media center at their school.
